9 to 5 Inspiration (Fall Edition)

With the hurricane weather throughout the weekend, I had a lot of time to work on the blog, read the new September issues, begin Repurposed by Ashley Sixto’s Fall/Winter collection, and re-organize my new office space! (Oh, and celebrate my birthday too!)

But with starting my new job and the Fall creeping on us quicker than we think, I got to focusing on my 9 to 5 inspiration outfits. I work in a marketing firm, so the dress code is very business casual. It’s much more convenient to have this kind of dress code because you can always incorporate things already in your closet that can be used for weekend wear.

Here’s what has got my attention for the upcoming season:

Silver Scallops and Spikes

top: Love 21. pants: ASOS (sold out; similar here for only $20!). shoes: GoJane (last seen here) watch: Michele. bracelet: David Yurman. purse: Forever 21. glasses: Prada (via eBay)

I love mixing prints, textures, and styles when it comes to my outfits. From the top we start off very feminine with silver fabric and scalloped edges, then we head to a bit more funky (still feminine) with the floral print, then we top it off with a kick! These shoes are so awesome. I found them as a steal vs Christian Louboutin spiked pumps and everywhere I go, someone has to stop me and ask me about my shoes. They’re great for a night out and even for work, like I’m wearing here.

With other news…

My birthday is coming up this Monday and it looks like I’ll be having a hurricane party instead of a birthday party! Thanks to this guy, Isaac.

Besides him intruding the fun stuff, I still have no idea what to do for my birthday. Do any of you have any suggestions? I’d love to hear them!

sportswear isn’t only for the gym.

top: Forever 21. sports bra: Forever 21. shorts: Repurposed. shoes: hidden wedges via eBay. sunglasses: Marc Jacobs.

The craze this year has been the hidden wedge sneaker. As soon as I spotted the first few out and about in my trip to NYC, I had to have them. But obviously not at the original price. So my first stop was eBay about 2 months ago looking for at least a look a like. I got this great pair (that I’m wearing above) for about 60 bucks, but I was still on the lookout for another pair. Steve Madden then came out with an identical pair to the Isabel Marant’s but sold out in seconds! But now, I give you the day of your dreams. (At least, the heavens opened up and angels began to sing when I found these)

(splurge: Isabel Marant vs steal: Target)

A hidden wedge sneaker for $30! Yes, you read that right. THIRTY DOLLARS! Thank you Target! Could anything be wrong with such a thing? I don’t think so! Well, only the fact that you have to wait a few weeks because they’re on backorder… but that’s no worry for me. I think it’s worth the wait. I’ve already ordered the silver pair.

What about you? Are you going to jump in on the hidden wedge train? Or have you already done so?

Crazy Week!

Hey guys! I really want to apologize for doing a “disappearing” act on the blog this week. I just started a new job at a PR/Marketing Firm and it’s been hectic! (I’ve also been getting over a bad cold) Buuuuuuuuut… I’m back! This week was a fun challenge for me and my wardrobe. It’s a new job, so I’ve got to focus on what to wear in the office and looking professional without taking away my style from the equation. What is simple and professional? A black shift dress and pearls. What is more Ashley? A cargo jacket and a statement pearl necklace on top of that simple dress! And that’s exactly what I did for today.

cargo jacket: Forever 21. dress: H&M. heels: Zara. purse: Michael Kors.

I’m so excited for this new job opportunity and I can’t wait to see where it takes me and all the things I learn on the way. I’m even more excited of coming up with a cool 9to5 wardrobe. Wish me luck!
