FULL NESTING MODE (Sorta)

Growing up, I always pictured my dream home filled with my dream family. Thanks to Pinterest, I have recreated this dream about 5 million times and it never gets old. But once I heard the news that I was expecting, my brain did this weird thing and kicked into what we like to call “nesting mode”. Now is my chance to build this dream home with my real life *growing* dream family.

With my busy schedule, its been so easy to put off finalizing the decor in our apartment and exchange that energy towards making the store look better or working on new concepts and ideas. But now, it’s like I can’t stop thinking about it. Little things like a cute entry way (where I can easily store all my hats), some new cushions for our couch and rug – thanks to Didi we’ve had to be on the hunt for a new one anyway. But what gets me most excited is Axel’s space.

We’ve got a one bedroom apartment, so trying to come up with a cool design within our bedroom has been quite a challenge. But i’m ready to take it on and create his perfect little space. Lucky for us, space isn’t an issue – so there’s a lot to play around with. The extra storage is a plus, too.

here are two inspiration boards i’ve put together this week before I start to head out and hunt.

I’ve been really interested in making this space a perfect cozy, neutral and minimal space for our little guy. Something that won’t be overcrowding our space, either. I’ve pinned and pinned and i feel comfortable enough to finally begin the process of hunting down all the items we want (all while keeping within a budget).

main inspiration piece is the painting behind Didi in the photo. it’s an original work by Adrian’s late great uncle. we’re a huge fan of his work and actually have several pieces hanging all around the apartment.

we’ll be DIY’ing a few things like painting our current dresser set to match the art piece. we’ll probably be going with this color by BEHR “green trellis” and adding a few gold drawer pulls. i’m also currently working on a copper + cotton thread macrame piece to hang on the wall behind the crib. we also have a few wood slabs laying around the house – so we will add those to the wall above the dresser for additional decor and storage space.

dresser: ikea (no longer available) // crib: ikea (under $100!) // drawer pulls: martha stewart via home depot // pom pom blanket via Etsy // striped crib sheet: burt’s bees via buy buy baby // baby changer pad for above dresser: keekaroo peanut changer (natural to match the color scheme)

Ashley Sixto_Living Room Inspo

we’ve already got the couch, chair and ottoman. all that’s really left to make our living room “complete” is a new rug + entry way stylized. I currently have a make shift table at the entryway – but I’m looking to change it up for a bench like the one in the photo.

i feel like adding a bit of blue and green into the neutral mix of what we have will already set a premise for a calming and relaxing vibe. just exactly what we need after a long day of work!

bench: ikea // rug: rugs usa (on super, super sale!) // pillows: still on the hunt, but really looking for a some african mud cloth ones. etsy might be my best bet!

LET’S GET REACQUAINTED…

it’s been a while since I’ve last posted here, but with good reason of course.

it’s been almost 6 months and it has been a whirlwind. but you know me, i seem to love being busy and picking up on new projects and adventures. let’s see… we had the SpinGallery opening in January, pregnancy, we reopened SpinGallery in June and did some refresh to the shop. did I mention, pregnancy?

i know i always come back on here and say I’m really going to commit to starting this up again, and then i don’t. but i really miss catching up with you guys and really documenting my every day life. so, here we go. TAKE: i don’t even know anymore.

business

Spin has a new sleek and matured look going on these days. We closed up for about a week, did some renovations and we’re back up and ready for a *hot* summer. We’ve been working so hard at bringing Miami (and the interwebs) fresh and unique content all while staying true to our homegrown roots. Refining our look and style are just some of the few things.

I miss Illiett, she’s in China. can I be in China too? she’s such a big part of our workshops + events side of Spin, she is seriously amazing. you need to come to one of the workshops!

We’ve also brought in Elisa to the team, she’s obviously my Spin muse if you haven’t noticed. because, i KNOW you’re following @SpinGallery on instagram and you’ve seen her. if you’re not………………..you better right now.

she’s curating our newest RE/SPIN line at the shop and we’re so excited about it. read more about it here.

Alec…is leaving to NY and I’m so sad. what the hell am I going to do without him by my side here? BUT I’m super proud of all his work and growth and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes at PRATT (hello, that’s major key alert.) ps. he took the picture of Elisa up there, the one in yellow. *time to pick up your drool now*

pregnancy

hi there, remember me? I’m pregnant now and it’s the coolest weirdest thing ever. i’m going to be a mom. it’s awesome.

adrian and i are expecting a little monster, i mean beautiful son and we’re naming him AXEL. that kid needs to be a rock star. or just cool. he’ll definitely be cooler than me. i mean, he isn’t even born yet and he has a *growing* shoe collection. that’s my boy!

#SpinGalleryxWynwood

Spin Gallery x Wynwood is officially open for business.

Spin Gallery x Wynwood is more than a store. It’s a creative space. A place where you feel comfortable enough to stay a while, feel inspired and get connected.

Essentially, everything inside in the store is for sale. Our decor is made up of custom goods by myself and local artists and artisans, even the clothing racks are handmade. Our main merchandise table is transformed for our exclusive workshops and events. It’s a pretty cool concept.

The grand opening party was such a hit! So many people came through, it really blew me out of the water. I met so many new people, toasted for success with my family and friends and had a really fun time.

The weather was extremely chilly, setting the perfect tone for wood fired pizza + home made hot chocolate (thanks to Itsa Pizza Truck and Serendipity Creamery).

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated Spin’s new home.
