Style Challenge: Day One

Every now and then I challenge my wardrobe basics to create a few different looks. This week, I wanted to put together a casual, semi-casual, and an “I’m ready for a fun night out” look using the same basic pieces. It’s always cool to see how much you can maximize what you’ve got in your closet without having to go out and buy a whole new outfit. (I guess that’s the frugalista in me.)

Today’s look: Casual

Basics: Black Tee – Express & Coral Pants – H&M (similar in Seafoam)
Add ons: Old Navy Flats, Michael Kors Bag c/o the boyfriend, Karen Walker Sunnies, Michael Kors Watch, Varied bracelets, H&M gold hair tie.

This was such a fun project for Janelle (my photog and great friend) & I….Mainly because we got to spend some time at the county fair before it ended over the weekend. We couldn’t let it pass by without grabbing some Dippin’ Dots ice cream and take in all the different smells from the elephant ears and funnel cakes…mmmmm. YUM. Stay tuned for what’s next in the challenge.

p.s. Thanks Scar for helping out too!

Ashley Goes to Prep School

top: H&M (similar). pants: Forever 21 (similar). sweater: Forever 21 via Shop The Closet. purse: Michael Kors. watch: Nixon. necklaces: Spike the Punch, Monogram – gifted by my best friend (similar style here). sunglasses: Karen Walker (loving this color too!).

Gossip Girl is back on today and I’m extremely ecstatic. Yes, it’s one of my favorite shows. Sometimes, I secretly wish I was a NYC Socialite parading the town in my fancy shmancy heels and outfits that cost a fortune. But instead I live vicariously through the lives of Manhattan’s elite in the comfort of my friends house drinking wine, sharing funny stories, and catching up…all while wearing this.

Splurge VS Steal: Celine Bi Cabas Tote

splurge vs steal: celine bi cabas tote

Switched things up a bit this weekend. I added a “Super Splurge” into the mix. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had my eye on the Celine Bi Cabas for quite some time. I just couldn’t really wrap my brain around the fact that it would cost me my arm and leg for a simple color block tote. So I went on the hunt to satisfy the liking and not to make my wallet scream again…..and did I find what I was looking for. I love the color combinations in the Rebecca Minkoff Toki, but the price tag on the Forever 21 tote is doing the trick for me. It’s multi-functional as a beach tote and perfect as a big ole purse to use during the day.

You can find all three bags here:

Celine , Rebecca Minkoff , Forever 21

But wait…. There’s an extra addition to the mix! After posting this over the weekend I found a SUPER STEAL. You can find an almost identical Faux Leather Shopper at Old Navy. It’s now on sale for $18. (C’mon, you know you can’t beat a price tag like that!) I’m actually loving the color combination on this bag. It will be perfect for any outfit. Go on, go for it. You deserve it.

….You’re welcome.

April Cravings: Blue VS Pink

The ultimate color war: Blue VS Pink. I remember growing up, this color war was very evident between my sister and I. Anything and everything that was blue, you knew it was mine. And if it was pink, it was my sisters. Even our lip glosses! It was the funniest thing. Thinking about those days bring back smiles. But here today, I bring you a different kind of smile. The one you can’t help. The one that comes when you found that perfect thing that describes your Spring staple. I have yet to define my Spring “must have”, but I’ve narrowed it down to two colors. (Here’s a little foreshadowing for ya.) In exactly one month I’ll be graduating! And one of these colors is what I’ll be prancing in that evening. Can you guess which one?

Funky Florals

blouse: H&M (similar here & here). pants: H&M (similar). shoes: Zara. purse: Michael Kors. glasses: House of Harlow.

There’s nothing like that feeling of wearing a brand new outfit. I did a bit of a shopping spree this past week. (You can’t blame me though.) The nearest H&M to me is almost 2 hours away, so when I decide to make the drive… I make it worthwhile. Hence the fact that you have been seeing more of it in my daily wardrobe.

I’m so in love with this floral print blouse. The versatility of it gives me the opportunity to throw it on with some jeans and heels like these or even with a pair of pants like the ones I have on in this outfit. I subtly snuck in the snake pattern and it fit together so perfectly. Maybe it’s because the shoes are just that amazing. It’s always fun to mix your patterns as long as you don’t go too crazy. Speaking of shoes!…. I’ve got a present for you: 40% Off All Shoes at House of Harlow! Use Coupon Code: 40OFF at Checkout!

You’re welcome. XO. Happy Thursday.
