Today’s Inspiration

Colorful tights underneath distressed [boyfriend] jeans.

Fur Stoles. I bought one last year and I’ve got the perfect vintage one that was handed down by my grandmother. Can’t wait to wear it!

Mad for plaid.

Love the idea of wearing a blazer as a top. I would even go for a contrast lapel blazer for more of a vamped up tuxedo look.

Christmas List: A bit of a golden touch!

Happy December everyone! (I know I’m a few days late, whoops!)

I’ve been really thinking about what I want for Christmas and this is always a big challenge for me. Believe it or not. I don’t like to ask for much because 1. I believe it’s a subconscious defense mechanism in my brain to want to be surprised and/or 2. If there’s something I really want, I buy it for myself before I can’t find it again. I’m the worst; guilty.

This month, I will be posting little Christmas lists and gift guides for all my readers. Lists such as: For him, your best friend, your parents, and your dog(s).

Today’s list has a bit of a golden touch and mainly under $50.

1. Coffee Table Books – always a great conversation piece in the home and very inspirational for the office; The Sartorialist ($30), Yves Saint Laurent ($25), Lanvin ($25) via Net-a-Porter.

2. Sneakers! (Always on my list) – I love love love the new Michael Kors metallic sneakers, but for the sake of Christmas listing on a budget, I’ve scored a great steal with these zippered ones from Forever 21; Michael Kors via Nordstrom ($195), Forever 21 ($37).

3. Christmas PJS!!!!!! I love the new black and white collection from Target. The gold polka dot print reminds me of Kate Spade. Am I right? Target PJ Set ($25)

4. New set of arm candy; Marc by Marc Jacobs iPhone Case ($48) via Nordstrom, Dara Ettinger Druzy Ring ($53) via ShopBop, Michael Kors Watch ($250) via Macys, CC Skye Bracelet ($60) via ShopBop.

Stay tuned for more to come!

Metallics All the Way Down to My Sole.

Bought this jacket almost 6 years ago and I’m so glad I never got rid of it! It’s such a cool statement piece to add to any kind of outfit.

Yesterday I paired it with a metallic shirt, simple black jeans, and my favorite heels (my YSLs!)

If you’re thinking “Sheesh, I really like that jacket and now I can’t get it” – Think again! Forever 21 just came out with a bunch this season. Oh yeah! Here ya go:

Splurge VS Steal: Wingtips!

splurgevssteal

Splurge(s): Cole Haan & Donald J Pliner vs Steal: Steve Madden

Alright people, I’m doing something completely different today.

With the holidays right around the corner, I wanted to make today’s Splurge vs Steal dedicated to him.  I’ve gotten many requests lately to bring in some tips on menswear and as you can tell, I gave in. I’ve even started a Menswear board on Pinterest to pick up on some extra inspiration. (Check it out here!) I’m so into wingtips this season and love the edge Cole Haan and Donald J Pliner have brought to the classic shoes. There’s no doubt that these two nailed it.

BUT I bring good news to you and your wallet. Steve Madden has brought that same coolness with a grey suede pair and I’m all about it. Plus, it’s half the price. Cha Ching.

If you’re not a fan of the wingtips but you’re still looking for a shoe with a colored sole, Target has got the budget-friendly pair for you.

And they’re only $40! Here’s the link.

So…What do you think? Did I do good on my first try?
