TAKE ME AWAY: GRAND TURK

Next stop….Grand Turk!

In life, sometimes you must make your own rules. Adrian and I snuck out to a deserted beach area and had the most relaxing afternoon. The weather was overcast for majority of the trip, but the view was still unbelievable. We walked all the way to the other end of the island where we sat on the rocks and watched the waves crash in. We even saw 2 whales (ha!).

We wandered pretty far away from the ship, but it was so worth it. Enjoyed the workout and the serenity of just walking on the beach with not a worry in the world.

TAKE ME AWAY: SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

PuertoRico

Hey guys, I’m finally back from my cruise vacation with the family! I had a great time with Adrian and all the family, but man there is no place like home. I visited beautiful places, ate amazing food and got the best tan this white girl could get on an overcast day. My favorite stop on the cruise {hands down} was Puerto Rico. The architecture, the colors, the people and THE FOOD had me in awe. If you ever get to visit that awesome little island, make sure you stop to eat mofongo and drink mojitos at Raices Restaurant. so. good. Now before I cry because I’m craving that, enjoy some snapshots!

TAKE ME AWAY: HAIR INSPIRATION

HAIR

braids, braids, braids and more braids.

one of the easiest ways to make your hair look fabulous when you don’t have enough time to style like you normally do. (this is ALWAYS the case on vacation) I’m currently obsessing over the milk-maid braids, but I think I might have too much hair to keep it all together. I guess it’s time for me to hit youtube and learn some helpful tips and tricks!

Because of my new ginger hair, it’s going to take a lot of maintenance when heading out in the sun and salt water. I’ve got to make sure to take my favorite products along with some new ones to make sure I maintain a healthy balance.

I just purchased this Phytoplage Protective Beach Spray which is actually an SPF for your hair. My hairdresser recommended that I use this before I go out in the sun and after I’ve wet it. Can’t wait to try it out! I’ll also be taking my all time summer favorite: MoroccanOil. This stuff has been the best thing for my hair. Ever. After I’ve washed my hair, I put a dime-size drop and run it through my hair before styling. It keeps everything sleek and together 😉

With the many changes to my hair this past year, it’s been a roller coaster trying to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner… and I found it!! It has helped restore my hair as well as keeping it not too dry and not too oily. It’s also less than $20 for the whole set! [Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In Balm.]

(this post is not a sponsored post, it is my true opinion.)

So I want to know, what are your favorite hair products for the summer?

The Beginning of My Travel Diary Series: “TAKE ME AWAY”

With the Summer quickly approaching, the only thing that is on my mind is “What the heck do I pack?”. I’ll be out of town this summer for about 3 weeks, and I couldn’t be any more excited! I’ll be cruising the Caribbean for a week, then shortly after, jetting off to Spain for two weeks! Ole!

I wanted to start a travel diary documenting everything I do from places I want to see, things I want to do, travel essentials I must pack, outfits I want to wear, and posts about the ones I actually wear. This would be a great opportunity to collaborate with YOU on what are some of your travel necessities, go-to places and any questions you might have for me about what to wear on your summer vacation.

And on that note…let’s get things started:

TRAVEL1

My Notes:

*Comfy Tee: I always go for the simple, solid color tee when traveling for comfort and ease when cleaning if something were to get it dirty (which always happens). It also gives me the chance to spice up my look while staying in the comfortable boundaries.
Burnout Grey Tee via Topshop
Distressed Skinny Jeans via Forever 21
*Scarf: Scarves are always a good thing to keep in your bag just in case it gets chilly on the plane. It takes less space than a jacket would.
Tiger Scarf via Topshop
*Sneakers: I would personally wear sneakers on any kind of flight – easy to take off and slip back on when going through security. You can do it all in socks instead of going a-la-barefoot, which gross….really gross.
Nike Air Max 90 via Nordstrom (I’VE HAD A CLOSE EYE ON THESE – I NEED WANT!)
Leopard Passport Case via ASOS
*Sunglasses: I take a pair of inexpensive sunglasses in the case I misplace them, it wouldn’t hurt my wallet as bad. (but if you really fall in love with a pair like these, I suggest buying two!)
Sunglasses via Forever 21
Carry-All Bag via Gap (love this silver leather bag – kinda on the pricier side, but totally worth it! can double as a beach bag too)
Beats Headphones via Tillys
TUMI Carry On Luggage via Macys (In my dreams…)

I didn’t write anything about jewelry, because I keep it basic. Don’t want to lose or leave behind anything important at security. I wear my Nixon Watch, stud earrings and that’s about it.
